Citizens Against Proposed Exit 11 Roundabouts

malta_event_2-001.jpg

To Malta Town Council: Paul Sausville, Tara Thomas, Maggie Ruisi, Peter Klotz and John Hartzell

For over a year the people of Malta have spoken out loud in opposition to the construction of roundabouts on the Round Lake Road Corridor. We have made it clear that we prefer the traffic light controlled intersections and turning lanes which are safer for pedestrians, our children and seniors while also being less expensive.

We ask you again to stand with the people you are elected to serve, to protect the public good and to reject the confiscation of citizen's property for sub-standard, non-conforming roundabouts that jeopardize our citizen's safety and split up our neighborhoods.

We the undersigned will be holding you accountable for your actions.

I lived in Malta for many years and I travel threw there almost daily I happened to not mind the circles but I worry of the ones whom use them for a speedway, and weave in and out of each lane I strongly agree that they are truly unsafe to put in an area where children will be needing to use to cross roads I agree traffic lights should stay or be in place for the added safety for our young as well as for us all in such areas

I travel to the Malta area to visit family and I don’t think roundabouts will help with traffic flow. What about turn lanes?

NO roundabouts! They are dangerous for our children and have no place in our beautiful small community. Turning lanes are the PERFECT solution.

I feel these roundabouts would be very bad for our community, There are alot of older people that live in this area that don’t know how to use the round abouts i feel there will be a lot of accidents. All we need is to add turning lanes at the lights. It is also dangerous for people that like to walk in that area.

Round About cause driver more confusion and more accident especially in slippery winter condition. which we have especially more of in this area.

There is also no room for these.

    Stop sign not round abouts.

Although PROPERLY designed roundabouts can be extremely useful for the appropriate traffic situations, it is NOT the safest traffic control option for Round Lake Road and its pedestrian traffic. Many residents utilize Round Lake Road as part of an exercise route and there are many children in the area that cross this road as well. Turning lanes should be investigated as a safer (plus more cost effective) option.
