Citizens Against Proposed Exit 11 Roundabouts

malta_event_2-001.jpg

To Malta Town Council: Paul Sausville, Tara Thomas, Maggie Ruisi, Peter Klotz and John Hartzell

For over a year the people of Malta have spoken out loud in opposition to the construction of roundabouts on the Round Lake Road Corridor. We have made it clear that we prefer the traffic light controlled intersections and turning lanes which are safer for pedestrians, our children and seniors while also being less expensive.

We ask you again to stand with the people you are elected to serve, to protect the public good and to reject the confiscation of citizen's property for sub-standard, non-conforming roundabouts that jeopardize our citizen's safety and split up our neighborhoods.

We the undersigned will be holding you accountable for your actions.

Turning lanes will make the traffic flow better. Not good for pedestrians.

I am adamantly opposed to the proposed Round a bouts….they are an extreme hazard to pedestrians ( our local community is growing older, seniors) maybe we should toss a few of the politicians responsible for this onto one of the round a bouts on rte 9 in malta and see how well they fair???? duck n dodge?…

Round abouts are too dangerous for pedestrians.

These roundabouts are not safe for our pedestrian traffic that is encouraged in our neighborhood. A turn signal makes more sense for these intersections, will be less expensive and less property required. Listen to you town!

I feel the round-abouts would put many of our residents in danger. As someone who enjoys walking, I see many people, young and old, out and about using our new sidewalks and it is such a nice neighborhood feel. Also with the bike path at the end of Ruhle Road, there is more bike traffic. In the summer family’s are out walking to the ice cream stores. Many seniors walk from the senior apartments across the street to Hannaford. I do believe something needs to be done as the traffic is getting so heavy but I don’t think round abouts is the answer. I think a traffic light with pedestrian crossing would be a better solution and more cost effective.

Not needed there, passing lane and lights are fine, it’s a beautiful walking community. Lets keep it that way!!!!

I oppose the roundabouts…Passing/turning lanes and signals are just as effective, less expensive, and more readily installed…
