At a recent meeting it was revealed that the construction of the two Roundabouts on Round Lake Road will start tentatively in June of 2015, just in time to ruin summer commutes and camp pickups. Right now the proposed "Detour Plan" for Round Lake Road traffic will reroute east/west vehicles onto Ruhle Road South and Miller Road. The traffic will also be rerouted onto Raylinsky Road. The rerouting will take place during different stages of the construction.
The Town Board continues to make plans that have serious impacts on the residents without any input by the very people they are supposed to represent. They may not want to listen, but as they saw in the recent elections, not listening to the people has consequences.
My Malta supporter and 35 year expert of traffic safety with the New York State Police, Woody Sloat has said: "I don't feel this is a safe proposal as the detoured vehicles are traveling through residential neighborhoods populated with children. A safer proposal would be to send the traffic to Exit 12 and Exit 10 unless you reside in the immediate Exit 11 area east of East Line Road. The volume of traffic at peak times will diminish our quality of life and needlessly endanger our neighborhoods."
Now we want to hear from you. Reply and let us know what you think about the proposed detours. Do you agree with the proposed detour proposal? Or should traffic be diverted to Exit 12 and Exit 10 where the roads are designed to handle that amount of traffic? Do you have a different idea? Or if you want to join us at the next town board meeting on October 6th at 6:30pm to voice your concerns, we would be happy to see you!
We have united against unsafe proposals before and we need to come together again before this proposal becomes a reality.
Our displeasure should be loudly heard by our elected Town Representatives.
